DScoop Wrap Up!

Matt Mills Director at Fuzed, along with 23 other members from the New Zealand and Australian print industries travelled to St. Louis, Missouri this month for the 2023 HP users conference, DScoop Edge St. Louis World Expo.

For the Australasian tourists the trip started in Atlanta, Georgia where they visited several very impressive American print companies - Fortis Solutions Group, Bensons Integrated Marketing Solutions and Bennett Graphics. This was a very eye opening experience for most given the massive size and scope of these companies, they felt like kids in a candy store! A highlight of their trip for sure.

Travelling up the interstate to St. Louis, while driving through some very Auckland Anniversary-like rain to the conference, which was held at the stunning America’s Center Convention Complex. Users of HP equipment met to collaborate and discuss topics from new technology, leadership, marketing, sales, sustainability and automation. 

Can we talk about that Auckland Anniversary-like rain they had to drive through? I’m sure they felt right at home with that kind of weather. I mean, who doesn’t love a good downpour while you’re on a road trip? It’s like Mother Nature’s way of saying “Hey, remember to pack your raincoat next time!”

The conference kicked off with a very energizing performance and keynote address from Mark Schulman, the head drummer for P!NK, Cher, Billy Idol, Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow, just to name a few. He really drummed up some excitement! I can only imagine how pumped up everyone must have been after that!

For the next 2 days the group, along with several hundred others from around the world, attended sessions ranging from coffee-talk-style conversations to educational sessions. There were also demonstrations from HP and other partners on their latest equipment.

One of the keynote speakers, the inspiring Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, shared his thoughts on teamwork and leadership. You would have to say that he knows what it takes to get to the top of whichever game you play… sport, business or family. I mean, if anyone knows about being a champion, it’s him! I bet he had some slam-dunk advice that will stick with Matt and his colleagues long after the conference is over.

After a much needed rest to get over the jet-lag, Matt takes away from the conference a wealth of new industry knowledge and successful networking which he is very excited to implement and share with his company and colleagues. Who knows what kind of printing magic they’ll be able to pull off now that they’re armed with all this new knowledge!

I just hope they didn’t try to pack any of those massive American printers in their suitcases... I hear they can be a real pain in the toner cartridge to transport!
